How to Join the Known & Grown Network

Known & Grown is committed to helping environmentally-responsible farmers within the foodshed thrive.

One way that we do this is by ensuring farmers across the region adhere to Good Stewardship farm practices. These are principles that guide us to protect our environment, treat animals humanely, provide fresh, nutritious food to consumers and institutional buyers, and help the St. Louis Foodshed deepen its impact.

Becoming a Known & Grown farmer is easy!

Here are the  simple steps to join our network.

Complete the Known & Grown Farmer Interest Form to express your interest and connect with our coordinators.

After farms complete our initial interest form, the Known & Grown coordinator visits farms who want to join the Known and Grown family to see how the farm implements their practices on-site.

Farms are scored based on the Good Stewardship farm practices.

After the visit, all farms receive a list of recommended actions to strengthen the farm’s commitment to the Known and Grown values, even if that farm does not initially meet our standards.

Farms that meet the standards are provided materials to promote their membership in the network.

Farms that are admitted into the Known & Grown network are visited at least once every three years by the Known and Grown Coordinator, and in between those visits, they submit documentation illustrating the practices used on their farm. This may include photographs of farm layout and receipts for inputs used on the farm.
