“Meaningful flowers for intentional people.”
We are second-generation Missouri farmers committed to improving our soil through regenerative practices. We are no-till farm growing in permanent raised beds — once formed, we never disturb them — and we don’t use chemical inputs.
Every bed spends a season each year in a diverse cover crop mix to provide insect habitat, provide a multi-species set of roots to feed soil microbes, and to add organic matter in the form of living plants. In the spring, we identify beds for our late-season CSA and plant a warm-season mix of 20+ species, including cowpeas, broom corn, vegetables, radishes, and buckwheat. For our fall/winter cover crop, we use a mix of hardy cereal rye, oats, and peas.
BLH farm actively works to divert food waste from the landfill through a residential composting service within the St. Louis area. We use this post-consumer food waste to create bokashi compost, which we regularly bury in our beds to improve soil health.
