“We hope to teach North County residents about food justice and the STEM behind growing food.”

The Healthy Flavor Community Garden is a small garden in Riverview village where we grow a variety of produce such collard greens, spinach, onions, garlic tomatoes, etc. We also host our Healthy Community Market at this site, where we sell chemical-free produce at reasonable prices and teach nutrition to North County residents.

At the North County Agricultural Education Center, we teach STEM and more. We are growing potatoes, fruit tress and herbs.

More from Farmer Specialist Chris Wimmer:

“The Healthy Flavor Community Garden and Garden Market are a dynamic enterprise seeking to both feed the community healthy chemical free food and educate the community about how to grow and cook healthy food. Erica says that her area is definitely a food desert, and she is excited and eager to change that situation. They offer cooking classes to help her community members get over being intimidated by fresh food. They use no chemicals, collect rain, grow their own transplants, and operate an educational program.”
