“Greathouse Garden is focused on growing long term density crops at scale.”
In 2023, I am embarking on my second year of production at Greathouse Garden. I grow on Bellews Creek Farm, established by another Known & Grown farmer, Paul Krautmann. I am proud of the fact that I have been able to encourage folks of all walks of life and levels of experience to join me in my farming efforts. Relying on the insights of these different perspectives helps the farm run efficiently and smoothly. My helpers are generally excited and energized by the unique opportunity that working on my farm provides.
I am focusing on crops that are scalable. I started with winter squash in 2022, and plan to add crops one at a time after I am confident that I have mastered the planning, planting, cultivating and harvesting. In year one, we grew nearly 15,000 pounds of winter squash. In the future, onions, garlic, potatoes, sweet potatoes and melons are other crops I intend to expand to. I am proud of the efficiency I have been able to develop.
