Volunteer – Trivia Night

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for our 2nd Annual Trivia Night fundraising event. As a small organization, the success of events like this comes down to community. Learn more about volunteering and check out the variety of volunteer opportunities below. As a thank you, all individuals volunteering for 2 hours or more will receive their choice of a tshirt, beanie, or tote bag. Free drinks and snacks will be provided.

Parking:

The Masonic Temple has an adjacent parking lot. Additional street parking is available.

Accessibility:

• Wheelchairs and mobility aids: A chair lift is available to navigate the stairs at the entrance. Please let us know in advance if you will need the lift.
• Seating: Depending on the shift you choose, you may be sitting or standing for the majority of the time. Set-up, Runners, and Cleanup will be mostly standing with the opportunity to sit, as needed.
• Masking: The event will be indoors. Masks are not required, but it will be a mask-friendly space.
• Noise: The space holds around 200 people. Throughout the event, it may get quite loud.
• Restrooms: Multi-stalled, gendered restrooms are available.

Event Setup

Volunteers will be setting up tables and chairs, placing signage, arranging the drink and snack station, arranging silent auction items, and other tasks to prepare for the event. Please note, this role may involve lifting or carrying heavy items.

Time: 330-530pm (2 hour shift)

Volunteers needed: 8

Tech Setup

Volunteer will be setting up and testing AV equipment–connecting computers to the projector and venue sound system, setting up additional sound equipment, and aligning the projector to the screen. Volunteer should have basic AV tech skills and experience.

Time: 330-530pm (2 hour shift – may be less)

Check-in

Volunteers will be checking in guests and providing general orientation to the space.

Time: 5-7pm (2 hour shift)

Drink & Snack Station / Silent Auction Monitor

Drinks and light snacks will be provided with a suggested donation. Volunteers will be keeping the station stocked with drinks and snacks. Volunteers will also be monitoring the silent auction table, ensuring it is kept orderly, and answering any questions from guests. This role requires volunteers to be 21 or older.

Time: Shift 1 – 530-730pm (2 hour shift)

Trivia Judge

Volunteers will be checking answers after each round of trivia and scoring answer sheets. Some light math or counting is required. This is a fast-paced role best suited for detail-oriented individuals.

Time: 6-10pm (4 hour shift)

Volunteers Needed: 6

Runner

Volunteers will assist with a smooth transition between each round of trivia by ensuring that answer sheets are turned in on time and each team has a new answer sheet before beginning each round. During trivia rounds, runners will be assisting staff with additional tasks as needed. This role will be mostly standing, with periodic opportunities to sit.

Time: 6-10pm (4 hour shift)

Cleanup

Volunteers will assist in taking down signage and decorations, sweeping, trash removal, breaking down tables and chairs, and other general cleanup activities. Please note, this role may involve lifting or carrying heavy items.

Time: 10-11pm (1 hour shift)
