About Bustani Ya Upenda
Bustani Ya Upenda, Good Journey’s youth community garden, provides fresh and organic food for youth, families, and the community. The garden employs youth and provides education to youth and community members alike with lessons in growing food and preparing meals with our own hands. A covered outdoor kitchen with charcoal grill, stove top burners, and brick pizza oven, are used for cooking lessons. Bustani Ya Upenda grows vegetables, fruit trees and bushes, herbs, native plants and flowers, sunflowers, and includes an arbor for growing grapes. This is a welcoming community space. You’ll find murals covering their shed painted by MwazaCarol and Miiyaya, a firepit for S’mores and more, a peaceful zen space with benches, fountain, and a Zimbabwe Shona sculpture.

Beginning with small youth gatherings centered on identity, art, and leadership, Good Journey grew into a community institution grounded in love, culture, and collective responsibility. Over the past two decades, Good Journey has served thousands of youth and families across St. Louis through programs that cultivate self-awareness, cultural pride, and community action. About our Farm Tour Series
Our 2026 Farm Tour Series gives you the chance to visit your local farms in person, get a realistic look at what goes into creating the food you place on your tables, and get to know the real people who produce that food. This series of events showcases the diversity of working farms in the greater St Louis region, including vegetables, livestock, mushrooms, fruits, flowers, and more! The price of your ticket honors a local farmer’s time and expertise, helps them to diversify their revenue, and supports Known & Grown’s ability to continue to offer farmer-focused, community-oriented programming. This is a family-friendly event and a great outing for visitors of all ages, abilities, and interests. All are welcome.
