Greenwashing is the act of making a product, service, or company seem more sustainable than it actually is as a marketing tactic. Be wary of terms like “natural” and “farm fresh,” as they are not regulated and have no real meaning. Use the guides below to avoid greenwashing:

Ongoing volunteer opportunities:

  • Sunflower Savannah Farm is seeking volunteers for 3-5 hour shifts on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and/or Fridays. Volunteers will work on a wide variety of projects such as laying landscape fabric, planting, spreading minerals, bunching produce, putting up tomato and fruit fences, and other on-farm tasks. Other volunteer opportunities with Sunflower Savannah Farm include helping farmer Sam set up her farmer’s market booth at the Tower Grove Market on Saturday mornings.
  • Urban Harvest STL offers volunteer opportunities at both their Fresh Starts garden on Thursdays and at their Food Roof on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Learn more here.
