“I have been farming organically in a quarter acre deer fenced garden since 2000.”
Louise has been helping to educate young families about organic gardening for years. Louise is a wealth of knowledge from years of reading and studying gardening vegetable production. Louise sometimes sells at the Wildwood Farmers Market, and donates a large percentage of her produce to the St. Anthony of Padua parish and to St. Alban Roe.
When asked why she wanted to be a part of Known & Grown STL, she replied, “Soil Organic Matter (SOM) has gone from 2% To 3%, in one row 5%. I mulch with half-rotted leaves, sow cover crops. I want to show how absorbent my soil is now that the SOM is higher. I want to show that my soil can absorb lots of CO2.”
